PHILOSOPHY

Talking and working with children is my profession.  I can enhance their imaginations, spark creativity, foster manners, enhance skills and form trusting relationships.  Their happiness and welfare is now part of my responsibility as well as yours.

In-House Screening

At STURGEON LAKE CLUBHOUSE DAYCARE LLC, your child's safety is of the utmost importance. All of our registered aids/helpers are carefully screened, which specializes in personal, professional and criminal-background checks.

My goal is for you to have a child who:

  • You can take out into public without embarrassment, punishment, or promises.
  • Respects the environment.
  • Can delay gratification.
  • Respect other’s space, body and property.
  • Can move his or her body through space, without hurting anything or anyone.
  • Can acknowledge when he or she has made a mistake.
  • Understands the concept of restitution. (How will we fix this?)
  • Can ask for what he or she needs and understands the difference between needs and wants.
  • Can allow younger children’s needs to be met before his/her own.
  • Can establish and nurture emotionally healthy relationships with other children and with adults.

 

Kindergarten Readiness Skills:

 

  • Being physically healthy, rested, and well nourished.
  • Being able to communicate needs, wants, & thoughts verbally.
  • Child has been frequently and regularly read to.
  • Ability to follow directions given by others.
  • Not being disruptive in class (cooperating, working quietly)
  • Being sensitive to other children’s feelings.
  • Ability to take turns and share.
  • Ability to sit and pay attention.
  • Ability to use pencils and paint brushes.
  • Being able to complete tasks from start to finish.
  • Identifying primary colors and basic shapes.
  • Knowing the alphabet.
  • Ability to count to twenty.
